Economic development :

EPIDA's task is to implement the New Town's economic development strategy. This strategy is defined by the 2000-2003 Development Contract, signed by the New Urban Area Business Association, the Isère Departmental Council and the State.

The 5 aims of the New Town's economic development strategy:
· To maintain and strengthen existing skills fields (electronics, computers, telecommunications, materials, health, education and training, logistics) and pursue diversification of the economic structure.
· To increase services to business and residents
· To bring employment and residential areas closer to each other and stimulate employment
· To enhance the territory's economic identity and better integrate business into the life and development of the New Town.
· To integrate the urban area part into an ongoing process of sustainable development.

EPIDA's economic activities are many and varied: piloting market and positioning research, getting property products on the move, defining canvassing policy for companies in France and abroad.
EPIDA is the contact point and interface for firms wanting to set up in the area. It coordinates the local economic scene, looks after its consolidation, negotiates property sales, draws up and implements communication measures in the economic field. It also takes part in and coordinates professional and institutional networks.

Housing development:
Following the trend of the past 3 years, 2002 was an important year in relation to housing development:
- 300 housing units on order
- Deeds drawn up by solicitors: 400 housing units
Whilst at the same time, strengthening the objectives of diversifying our housing offers.
This plan is aimed at responding to the greatest possible demands of the public and to attract particularly the middle and upper classes by offering specialised rental accommodation.
For each sector of the market, this corresponds to:
- Creating mass housing developments for home ownership
- Building readymade houses for home ownership
- Providing building land for the construction of houses to personal specification
- Building private rental accommodation for sale to investors (Besson tax exemption law)
- Building blocks of serviced apartments, aimed at a specific market.

In quantitative terms, EPIDA's objective is to market 300 new housing projects per year.

Infrastructure development :
This covers preliminary studies, programming and implementation in the fields of road building, water supply, sewage, drainage, electricity, telephony and landscaping. EPIDA acts either independently or as an agent for such contracting authorities as the State (for roads) and SAN (for water supply, sewage, drainage and landscaping).
