Housing projects, lines of development,
operational goals
 Housing projects

Housing projects follow 3 main lines :
- Ensuring social variety via balanced housing development: maintaining a reasonable rate of new building so as to provide accommodation for all sectors of the population and salaried staff from New Town firms.
- Managing the existing housing stock and working together to improve the public housing supply.
- Developing a partnership approach for the North Isère basin and coordinating housing policies between the New Town and the Bourgoin-Jallieu urban area.

Housing projects also reflect such operational goals as :

- Rehabilitation of the public housing stock and public spaces.
- Generation of a local urban management dynamic in priority neighbourhoods (Les Roches, Servenoble, Les Moines, Le Triforium).

The housing section of the 2000-2003 Development Contract emphasises that :

- The housing supply should include a proportion of small blocks of flats and detached houses appropriate to the requirements of current and future residents.

- Enhancement of the supply of private rented accommodation should be aimed at attracting a middle and upper management clientele.

- The original "green city" concept calls for urban continuity, shopping centres, public facilities and services, together with views of the local countryside and immediate access to a protected, enhanced environment.

- Development should mean a more varied geographical spread of new housing while meeting the quantitative demand. Housing supply is a major asset in terms of attracting new businesses to a given site.
