Increasing resident demands in terms of the natural and living environments make landscape protection and enhancement more important than ever.

Gifted with a remarkable natural setting, Isle d'Abeau illustrates the relationship between three gradations of landscape :

 

- a local scale: landscape rise-and-fall etched with the work of farmers
- an intermediate scale: the valley that unifies the towns
- a "distant" scale: the Alps, representing a link between residents and the country as a whole

The Landscape Plan has been embodied in a charter listing the basic principles behind landscape preservation and harmonious change.
